How to Contact the Centre
Parents contact the Centre to initiate the request for service. In that telephone call basic information is obtained and an orientation meeting date is set.
The orientation meetings are group meetings of parents who have made the initial call. At the Children’s Program the orientation meeting does not include children, while at the Youth Program the youth are expected to attended with their parents. This meeting describes what services The York Centre can offer.
If the decision is to apply for services the Application Forms and Release of Information Forms may be completed at that meeting.
Involvement in and continuation of service is voluntary.
Individualized Service Plans
Based upon information gathered from the child, youth, family, school and relevant helping professionals, an individualized, goal-focused treatment plan is developed, based on strengths and needs. This is the basis for the partnership between the family and the Centre.
As required, specialized assessments, including psychological, psychiatric, speech and language, motor skills and expressive therapy may be provided by The Centre.
